Trump admin posts surreal image of alligators as guards at new immigration camp

Another normal day at the office.

The Trump administration has shared a bizarre AI-generated image showing alligators as guards at an immigration camp.

The picture uploaded to the Homeland Security X page shows four alligators in a line wearing ICE hats, with the caption: “Coming soon!”

It comes as the Trump administration plans to go ahead with the construction of a huge immigration detention camp in Florida, which has been dubbed “Alligator Alcatraz”.

The proposed detention camp is a $450 million-a-year complex with plans to house up to 1,000 migrants on a remote 39-square mile in the Everglades.

The land is surrounded by thousands of hungry pythons and an estimated 200,000 alligators.

Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier is one of those supporting the project and he insists that the surrounding wildlife will act as a budget-friendly security for the facility.

Posting on X, he described it as, “Virtually escape-proof”.

He continued: “If you get out, there’s not much waiting for you except alligators and pythons.”

Immigration rights activists have fumed online over the dystopian project.

One X user wrote: “This is not a joke – this is state-sponsored intimidation.

“We are treating human beings like prey.”

Meanwhile, other have concerns for the wildlife of the Everglades should the prison be built.

Eve Samples, head of Friends of the Everglades, told CBS News: “The site is over 96 percent wetlands, surrounded by a national preserve, with incredible biodiversity.

“This plan is not only cruel, it’s an environmental disaster waiting to happen.”
