Fox News has announced that its most popular presenter Tucker Carlson is leaving the network.

In a brief statement on Monday (24 April), the US media giant confirmed the surprise news. The statement read:

“Fox News Media and Tucker Carlson have agreed to part ways. We thank him for his service to the network as a host and prior to that as a contributor.

“Mr. Carlson’s last program was Friday, 21 April. Fox News Tonight will air live at 8PM/ET starting this evening as an interim show helmed by rotating Fox News personalities until a new host is named.”

A reason for the decision was not given.

The move comes just days after Fox News announced that a settlement was reached in the Dominion Voting Systems lawsuit.

The BBC reports that, in the defamation lawsuit, the voting machine company Dominion alleged that its business was impacted negatively by the network spreading false claims that its machines were rigged against politician Donald Trump.
