Two children have been admitted to hospital in Waterford

Two children have been rushed to hospital in Waterford following a fall from an apartment balcony this morning.

It has been reported that a seven-year-old girl and a three-year-old boy were taken to University Hospital Waterford following the incident on Friday morning.

Their injuries are not yet known at the time of writing.

According to reports, Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene of the incident at the Mount Suit apartments in Waterford City at 10.40 this morning, March 20th.

It is understood that both children fell from the balcony of one of the apartments shortly before 11 am.

In a statement to Extra.ie, Gardaí confirmed they attended the scene of the incident.

"Shortly before 11 am this morning, Friday 20th March 2026, Gardaí in Waterford assisted other agencies in responding to a medical emergency at a residential property at Mount Suir, Waterford," Gardaí stated.

They added, "An Garda Síochána has no additional information regarding the incident."

Gardaí, a number of ambulances, fire units, and Waterford City and County Council officials all attended the scene after the alarm was raised this morning.

Garda forensic teams will also examine the balcony from where the children fell.
