Two dead and four injured in Donegal car crash

Three people were killed on Irish roads yesterday.

The fatal incident took place on the N15 at Birchhill on the main Ballybofey to Donegal Town road.

The incident, which involved two cars, took place at around 2pm on Saturday, May 16.

Two occupants in one vehicle, a man in his 20s and a man in his 30s, were pronounced dead at the scene.

Two other occupants of the same vehicle were taken to Letterkenny University Hospital for treatment of non life-threatening injuries.

Two occupants from the second vehicle are also being treated for non life-threatening injuries at the same hospital.

A Garda spokesperson said, "Road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in the area between 1.30pm and 2.30pm are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.

"Anyone with information is asked to contact Donegal Town Garda Station on (074) 912 5888, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station.

"Investigations are ongoing."

In a second incident in Dublin, a pedestrian in her 20s died after being struck by a car on Saturday night.

This incident took place on the N11 Bray Road, Loughlinstown, south Dublin, at around 11.50pm.

The young woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

A spokesperson said: "Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to a fatal road collision, which occurred in Loughlinstown, Dublin on Saturday 16th May 2026.

“At approximately 11:50pm Gardaí and emergency services responded after a pedestrian was struck by a car on the N11 Bray Road, Loughlinstown.

“The pedestrian, a female in her 20’s, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

“The coroner has been notified and the scene is preserved for examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators. Local traffic diversions are in place.”

The statement continued: “Gardaí are appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward.

“Road users who may have camera footage from the area at the time are asked to make this available to investigating Gardaí.

“Anyone with information is asked to contact Shankill Garda Station on (01) 666 4400, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station.”
