The latest figures have been released.

Two further Covid-19 deaths have been confirmed, as well as 767 new cases.

There has now been a total of 1,917 Covid-related deaths in Ireland, while we have had 62,750 confirmed cases of the virus since the beginning of the pandemic.

321 of Monday’s cases are in Dublin, while 84 in Cork, 47 are in Meath, 34 are in Limerick, 24 are in Roscommon and the remainder are spread across all other counties

Both of today’s reported deaths occurred in October.

It was announced on Monday evening that 65% of cases from the past two weeks were in people aged under 45 years.

There are currently 322 people in hospitals across the country with Covid-19, with 44 of them in the ICU.

Speaking on Monday, CMO Tony Holohan said that the country has seen a decrease in infection, but that “we still have a long way to go”.

He said that if no action was taken (if Ireland did not go into lockdown), the R number could be at 4.

He also expressed concern that he has not seen figures drop in Dublin the way they are across the country.

He then said that he doesn’t anticipate Level 5 restrictions being lifted earlier than 1 December, despite numbers decreasing.

Earlier on Monday, the Northern Ireland Department of Health reported that a further 493 individuals have tested positive for Covid-19 in the past 24 hours.

Sadly, a further eight deaths up north have also been reported.
