Two juveniles will appear before a judge today.

Gardaí have arrested and charged two juvenile males in connection with an incident that occurred at Courtown in Wexford in July of last summer.

In a statement issued on Monday (18 May), Gardaí say that the two juveniles have been arrested in connection with a “serious assault” that occurred in the Burrow area of Courtown Harbour near Gorey on 28 July 2020. The two youths will now appear before Wexford District Court today.

On 3 October of last year, it was confirmed by a Garda spokesperson that Gardaí in Gorey “investigating a serious sexual assault” had arrested four male teenagers (one adult and three juveniles) on suspicion of rape.

The next day, all parties were released without charge and files were prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.

Previous communication from An Garda Síochána suggests that the incident involved as many as three female victims, who were interviewed at the time by a team of specially-trained interviewers.

All parties in the investigation, including injured parties and suspects, were described by Gardaí as either juvenile or “vulnerable adults”.
