Two people killed and 4 injured after road crash in Cork

The crash happened this morning between Cork and Mallow.

Two people have been killed and four injured after a road crash on the N20 Cork to Mallow Road at the Waterloo Junction, according to Gardaí.

 

A man and a woman in their 60s were pronounced dead at the scene, after the car that they were passengers in was involved in a collision with a truck.

The driver of the car and the third passenger (a male and female in their 60s respectively) were taken to Cork University Hospital with injuries described as non life threatening.

The driver of the second car involved was taken to Cork University Hospital with injuries described as non life threatening. The driver of the truck was uninjured.

According to RTÉ, the N20 Cork-Limerick road is closed in both directions.

It is likely to remain closed for the day to facilitate an examination by Garda forensic road crash investigators. Motorists are being advised to avoid the area, with local diversions in place.
