The recall notice was issued by the FSAI after flour beetles were found in both Ready Break and Tesco Super Smooth Porridge batches, making them "unfit for human consumption".

The small pantry insects, which are usually about 3 to 4 millimetres long, belong to the Tribolium genus and are the most common pests found in stored food products like flour, rice, pasta, cereals, and spices.

Their bodies are flat and elongated, with a shiny reddish-brown color.
