Very sad news.

Two people in their 80s have died in separate crashes in counties Down and Tyrone.

The Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) have said that both incidents took place on Thursday (28 August).

The incident in Down saw an 87-year-old woman die following a two-vehicle crash on the Portaferry Road.

Hours later, in Tyrone, a man in his 80s from Cookstown died after a four-car collision on the Drum Road.

The PSNI released a statement, saying:  “At around 5.10pm, it was reported that a black Mini car, a Volvo lorry, a Mercedes goods vehicle and a Renault Kangoo were involved in the collision.”

“The driver of the Mini was treated at the scene but sadly passed away as a result of his injuries.”

Police have since made an appeal for anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or may have dash-cam footage, to get in contact with them.
