Two-time world heavyweight champion Riddick Bowe sends unprompted shout-out to ‘white brother’ Tommy Bowe on Twitter

It’s not every day you get a shout-out completely out of the blue from a former heavyweight champion on Twitter. Tommy seemed fairly chuffed anyway.

With a reputation as one of the deadliest finishers in European rugby and one of Ireland’s most important players in the last number of years, as well as being something of a hit with the ladies, we’re sure Ulster and Ireland winger Tommy Bowe is somewhat accustomed to getting shout-out from fans on Twitter; he does have over 258,000 followers after all.

It’s not every day, however, that a former heavyweight champion gives you a shout out seemingly for no reason whatsoever, as Riddick Bowe did to Tommy last night.

Judging by Tommy’s response he was certainly chuffed, but his tweet to Tommy was one of a series of bizarre yet very amusing tweets posted by the two-time heavyweight boxing champion last night (see below), who, as a bit of an Everton fanatic, recently courted controversy for comments towards Liverpool fans that belatedly prompted an apology from the 46 year-old.

It wasn’t just Bowe who was impressed by the shout-out from the man known as ‘Big Daddy’. Stephen Ferris thought it was ‘brilliant’…

…and we’re sure Bowe’s Irish team-mate Fergus McFadden will be insanely jealous once he gets wind of it, waiting as he has been for some time for a shout-out from his hero Mike Tyson.

Just send him on this clip Fergus and he’s bound to be impressed…
