Two trains have crashed in Germany, killing several and injuring over a hundred

The tragedy has occurred near Bad Aibling in south-east Germany.

It has been reported this morning that that two trains have collided between Rosenheim and Holzkirchen in Germany, killing several and injuring over a hundred.

The crash happened at about 6am Irish time, with the German news agency DPA saying that one of the trains derailed in the crash, causing a number of wagons to overturn.

As of now, the number of exact fatalities and injuries has yet to be confirmed, although at least two people are believed to have been killed.

A number of rescue staff, including eight helicopters, have been called to the scene.

A Bavarian police spokesperson has said:

“This is the biggest accident we have had in years in this region and we have many emergency doctors, ambulances and helicopters on the scene.”
