Rob Herring read out a short statement this afternoon.

Ulster rugby players have expressed their sadness at departure of Paddy Jackson and Stuart Olding following the IRFU and Ulster Rugby’s decision to revoke their contracts.

Ireland hooker Rob Herring read a short statement from Ulster players at a news conference on Tuesday ahead of the weekend’s clash with Glasgow.

“It is with a great deal of sadness that the players and pro staff have learnt of this outcome,” said Herring.

“We know that the two boys will be successful both on and off the pitch wherever they go.

“As a group, we have to move on and our full focus is now on Glasgow this weekend,” he finished.

Ulster Rugby CEO Shane Logan said on Monday that he doesn’t think the pair will will play for Ulster or Ireland again but denied that sponsorship pressure had any impact on the decision to revoke the duo’s contracts.
