Cork student killed in road traffic collision in the Netherlands

The incident took place in the early hours of Saturday morning.

An Irish woman has died following a hit-and-run in Utrecht in the Netherlands.

The young woman, who has been named locally as Aoife O’Connell from County Cork, was killed in a crash in Utrecht around 4.30am on Saturday morning.

She was 21-years-old.

A spokesperson for the Department of Foreign Affairs confirmed that they were aware of the case and that they were providing consular assistance.

O’Connell was a student in University College Cork.
