Not for the first time in the last few days, Enda Kenny was on the receiving end of a hostile welcome from protestors tonight.

Fresh from the unpleasant scenes involving Joan Burton at an anti-water protest in Jobstown at the weekend, there were further disturbances as the Taoiseach arrived in Sligo for a Fine Gael meeting this evening.

As you can see the video below, some protestors blocked the Taoiseach’s car from entering the Sligo Park hotel while banging on the side of the car and shouting messages of protest in the Taoiseach’s direction, while reports suggest that there were scuffles involving protestors and the Gardai. One woman is believed to have been treated by paramedics after fainting at the scene.

Mr. Kenny told local media outlets that protestors had reneged on commitments not to block the road into the hotel and said that it was lucky that nobody was injured.
