This is so dangerous.
The barriers at level crossings around the country are there to stop drivers from getting too close to the tracks so they don’t get clipped by a train.
It’s frustrating to get stuck behind them and it was too much for drivers on 51 occasions this year because they rammed into the barriers.
Iarnród Éireann Irish Rail has released this CCTV footage of vehicles breaking the lights and damaging barriers while trying to get past them.
Irish rail is installing license plate recognition cameras to catch anyone that does it in future. It seems silly that it’s got to that point.
