The whole thing annoyed a lot of people but we made the point that the majority of people who have ever worked as a teacher in Korea had a positive experience and this example of anti-Irishness is an exception rather than the rule.
JOE reader Gary Kenny has been in contact with us to emphasise that point. He's been living in Korea for the last five years and he says that "by and large there is no anti-Irish sentiment here from the locals. What has happened in the recently highlighted case is that some Private English Academy has obviously had a bad previous experience with an English Teacher from Ireland".
On his way to work this morning, Gary tuned into the local English radio station Busan EFM to hear the Korean/American host talk about the story. The host was pretty disgusted; have a listen.

Phew, for a second there we wondered if we'd lost our title as the Most Loved Nation in the World™ but it seems we are still top dogs.
P.S. We love you too South Korea.
Hat-tip to Gary Kenny who sent us the video.
