A German sunbather was almost killed when a pilot cut his landing a little bit short…
The runway on the German island of Heligoland leads right onto a public beach and while that might make for some pretty cool views of incoming airplanes, it’s also EXTREMELY dangerous, as one local sunbather recently found out.
The bloke in question was nearly crushed by the small plane and he was lucky not to have reacted to the loud approaching engine as he could have easily had his head ripped off.
The pilot, Juergen Drucker, 52, later apologised for his low landing: "I'm very sorry ... the man on the beach I could not see ... but I am glad nothing happened to him," he told German newspaper

"I noticed immediately that it was too low. The man on the beach was incredibly lucky," Drucker added.
Luckily, no one was injured in the low landing, but Drucker will now have to fork out for a new fence as his plane knocked out a few poles during the incident.
