VIDEO: Scary moment as plane fails to land at Dublin Airport during Storm Barbara

Tony Cuddihy

If you’re a nervous flyer, then it might be worth looking away now.

JOE reader Ger Fenton was at Dublin Airport on Friday during Storm Barbara, where he took this footage of a plane struggling to land amid the high winds of Storm Barbara.

He tells the story: “With very strong cross winds and gusts, I decided to head to the threshold of Runway 16 at Dublin Airport to watch some aircraft attempt landing.

“I took a few videos, which show the challenging circumstances the flight crew had in attempting to land. The first video shows a Boeing-type aircraft shaking side to side battling cross winds on final approach.”

Thankfully, it got there in the end.

Ger explains: “The second video shows the cross winds being too strong for an airbus A321 aircraft resulting in it having to “go around” and attempt to land again. It landed successfully on the second attempt. Very cool to watch!”
