Awful to see.
A stampede broke out in the fanzone in Paris last night during the quarter-final between Germany and Italy.
According to reports, fans started to panic when a firecracker went off causing a loud bang and smoke which many people mistook for a gunshot.
The incident occurred at the fanzone located at the foot of the Eiffel Tower and footage shows people fleeing in fear following the bang.

Speaking to the Daily Star, Ali Gourlay from London described the scene: “I saw sheer panic. It was everyone for themselves. There was no direction, no one knew what was happening. Everyone just ran. I thought I saw a firecracker.”
There are reports of minor injuries following the stampede.
