VIDEO: An emotional Mouse Morris and teary Michael O’Leary pay tribute as Rule The World wins Grand National

What a race…

33-1 shot Rule The World has won the 169th Grand National.

Ridden by Kilkenny man David Mullins and trained by Tipperary-based Michael ‘Mouse’ Morris, the horse stormed to victory at Aintree ahead of The Last Samurai in second and Vic’s Canvas in third.

It’s been an emotional year for trainer Mouse; following his son Tiffer’s tragic death in Argentina, Mouse won the Irish Grand National on Easter Monday with Rogue Angel and celebrated his 65th birthday on Monday past.

Now, he’s celebrating his first Grand National triumph.

Here he is, obviously flabbergasted after the victory and paying tribute to his son, Tiffer.

Understandably though, he wasn’t the only emotional one at Aintree. Watch as Michael O’Leary, who owns the winning horse, got teary-eyed as he sent his children a special message following the race.

Michael O’Teary…

Congratulations to all, a great day for the Irish.
