“You’re a hero in this family’s eyes.”

The national feeling remains very raw in the aftermath of Sunday night’s (March 20) Buncrana tragedy, and the tributes have been pouring in since then.

Sean McGrotty, his children Mark and Evan, his mother-in-law Ruth Daniels and her daughter Jodie Lee Daniels all lost their lives in the incident, when the car they were travelling in slipped into Lough Swilly.

Frank McGrotty, brother of Sean, has been speaking to RTÉ about the tragedy.

In a truly heartbreaking clip, Frank spoke about the recent death of the family’s sister, which was only eight months ago, and the passing away of their mother, just a couple of years earlier.

Frank paid tribute to the actions of Davitt Walsh, who heroically saved Rionaghac-Ann; Sean McGrotty’s four-month old baby.

Take a look.

Frank McGrotty, brother of Sean McGrotty, speaking on RTÉ's Six One News: "I want to thank the man who saved her [baby Rionaghac-Ann], you’re a hero in this family’s eyes."
