We do love a good festival here in Ireland. There's our day of national celbration, St. Patrick's Day, of course, and sure isn't today going to be renamed 'St. Conor McGregor Day'? There is a festival, however, which may even top both of those aforementioned occasions. Seamus Campbell got in touch to tell us all about an excellent event that takes place in Carrick-on-Suir in Tipperary. The wonderfully-named Christmas Tractors of Carrick-on-Suir does exactly what it says on the tin and involves a parade of 15 tractors completely decked out in a brilliant array of Christmas lights. We absolutely love it, mainly because it kind of reminds us of this... Here's what Seamus had to say about the parade... The people of the South East turned out in their thousands to see what is quickly becoming a festive must see, The Christmas Tractors of Carrick-on-Suir. 15 Tractors decked out in Christmas Lights paraded around the streets of the town which borders the three counties of Tipperary, Waterford and Kilkenny. This was the second year of what was the brainchild of local man Stuart John Downie. Downie thanked his fellow drivers and the visiting Grassmen from Co. Antrim for their efforts at their own expense. "It's great to bring a smile to peoples' faces and we are totally bowled over with the size of the turnout, there hasn't been this many people on the Streets of Carrick since the Tour de France'' Plans are already underway to make next years event even bigger and better, it brings a great boost to the local economy.
