The pictures were bad, the video is even more illustrative of the damage the weather wreaked in Cork last night.

After dark last night Cork was flooded as a combination of heavy rain, storm surges and high tides hit the city. This morning, as soon as dawn breaks, the clean up process will begin and based on these videos, it will be a big job.

The first video is a timelapse, shot by Ronan Kirby from his office on South Terrace, shows just how much the waters rose over the course of the evening.

The second, from Stuart Thompson, shows the flooding on the South Mall, with one lonely traffic cone floating off down the street.

And finally, on-board video of those now famous canoeists who were out on the streets of Cork last night, by Leif Beaton.

We wish the people of Cork all the best in getting their city back on track, and we really hope the weather picks up to make it easier.
