The U2 star was speaking to the US Senate about violent extremism.

Bono has never been one to shy away from lending his two cents on global matters, and his views on how to combat violent threats such as Isis are certainly interesting.

The iconic lead man addressed Congress in America about ways to counter terrorism throughout the world, as well as providing aid to the Middle East.

His opinions definitely garnered the attention of the distinguished members of the dicussion.

“It’s like, you speak violence, you speak their language. But you laugh at them when they are goose-stepping down the street and it takes away their power.

“So, I am suggesting that the Senate send in Amy Schumer and Chris Rock and Sacha Baron Cohen, thank you.”

Take a look.

Amy Schumer’s reaction said it all…

While Bono’s suggestion that a few comedy heavyweights should be deployed overseas was said with tongue firmly placed against cheek, the sentiment was unquestionably sincere.

“I’m a pretty hawkish fellow, but I learned a long time ago … that you are not going to win this war by killing terrorists.”

The rock star also expressed his views on providing aid overseas:

“When aid is structured properly, with a focus on fighting poverty and improving governance, it could just be the best bulwark we have against the extremism of our age”, as reported by Reuters.
