WATCH: Carlow was like a winter wonderland thanks to all the snow this morning

Conor Heneghan

Beautiful scenes.

Winter has arrived in Ireland with a bang this week, with snow falling in various parts of the country and temperatures dropping from as high as 16 degrees on Monday to as low as -4 this weekend.

It’s so rare in Ireland that the very sight of snow, even tiny amounts of it, is enough for some of us to get as excited as children at Christmas and there was plenty to go around in Carlow on Friday morning.

The video below was recorded by Carlow Weather in the hills above Killeshin on Friday morning and while it made for dangerous road conditions, all that white made for quite a beautiful sight.

The wintry conditions are set to remain throughout Ireland over the weekend, with severe frost anticipated as temperatures drop to as low as -4 degrees.

The good news is that it will be dry in most places on Saturday and Sunday, but if you are out and about or getting behind the wheel, be sure to stay safe.

Cheers to Carlow Weather for sending this our way. Got a story for JOE? Hit us up on Facebook or Twitter, send it to our WhatsApp number 087-4001102 or mail [email protected].
