When the lights are flashing, just stop.
Irish Rail has launched a new safety appeal to motorists, pedestrians, and cyclists about the dangers of level crossings when the barriers are being lowered.
Thursday, 6 June, is International Level Crossing Awareness Day and it’s the 11th edition of the day run by ILCAD.
To mark the day, Irish Rail has released footage which shows a number of collisions between motorists, cyclists and pedestrians who thought they could make it under the barriers without being hit.
As you can see, it doesn’t work out well…

Stop at the level crossing when the lights start, for your safety and that of others #ILCAD @ilcad pic.twitter.com/RY6AtPhV4D

In the interests of your safety and other road and rail users, stop at the level crossing when the lights start.
