WATCH: Man decides to wear 15 tops on a flight rather than pay the extra baggage charge

Baggage

You have to admire it.

If Joey Tribbiani from Friends was ever heading off on a flight and was told that his bag was overweight, you know exactly what he’d do.

Truth be told, as uncomfortable and sweltering as this would be, we’ve a massive amount of respect for it.

Well, a Scottish man called John Irvine has gone one better because after being told that his bag was eight kilograms too heavy, he improvised and threw on about 15 tops to avoid paying the excess baggage fee.

However, John was flying out from Nice in the south of France where the weather was around 30C outside. In a word, sweating.

Thankfully, John’s son, Josh, was on hand to film his dad throwing on layers and layers of shirts and jumpers.

In an interview with The Metro, Josh said that the airline staff were in stitches as they watched his dad take a unique approach to saving some money.

‘The lassie at the counter asked us if we wanted to pay extra but my dad just looked up at her and said ‘Hen , watch this’ and zipped open the suitcase and quickly flung on about 15 jumpers to help cut down the weight. My ribs were sore from laughing. The staff were in stitches but trying to get through the security was a struggle because they thought he was trying to smuggle something under all his clothes. Thankfully we got through eventually,” he said..

Take a look at the whole thing below.

We’d tip our cap to him but John’s probably wearing it already!
