
Gardaí stop and arrest man with weapons and balaclava in his car
Gardaí discovered a number of weapons including a firearm, a baseball bat and two extendable batons.
A man has been arrested following a weapons seizure in Dublin on Monday, 29 November.
Shortly after midnight on Monday, Gardaí stopped a car on Westmoreland Street.
Following a search of the vehicle, Gardaí personnel discovered a number of items including ammunition and an extendable baton and a balaclava.
A follow-up search at a residential property in Dublin 11 led to the discovery of a firearm, a separate extendable baton, a baseball bat and additional items.
All items were subsequently seized.
The man, who is aged in his 60s, was arrested in relation to the seizure and has been detained under the provisions of Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act, 1939.
As of Tuesday morning, he is being held at Pearse Street Garda Station.
The man has been formally charged in relation to the incident and will appear before the Criminal Courts of Justice in late December.
