Wrap up warm – minus temperatures are on the way this weekend

Weather forecast weekend March

So much for spring…

It’s the weekend and that means you’re making plans.

You’re hoping to maybe get out and about in the world and get a break from all of the heavy news that’s pretty much impossible to escape right now.

As such, you’ll want to know what the weather is like for the days ahead.

Winter is officially over but cold conditions are set to continue, is the basic gist.

It’s not all so terrible, though.

Friday (4 March)

Met Éireann forecasts a frosty and sunny start to the weekend, with some cloud and isolated showers to follow.

Highest daytime temperatures on Friday are expected to range between 7 and 9 degrees in light to moderate northerly breezes.

Friday evening, meanwhile, looks dry and clear, though cold and frost will persist with icy patches forming.

Temperatures will drop notably, falling to between -3 and zero degrees.

Saturday (5 March)

Saturday should be dry and sunny, with light winds anticipated.

Following a cold and frosty (there’s a pattern emerging here) start, afternoon temperatures will range between 7 and 10 degrees.

Saturday night will remain cold and mostly dry, with a slight chance of an isolated shower along eastern and southeastern coasts.

Temperatures will once again plummet, landing between -3 and -1 degrees.

Met Éireann notes it will be coldest in the west of the country, with frost and ice forming again.

Sunday (6 March)

Well, will Sunday prove any better? Not especially, sorry.

In fact, it will be a cloudier day, though conditions should stay dry – look out for light isolated showers in the east, however.

Afternoon temperatures are set to range between 7 and 10 degrees in moderate east or southeast winds.

Get set for another cold night, alongside clear spells and further isolated showers.

Temperatures will once again drop, ranging between zero and -2 degrees.
