The weather looks set to be rather promising for St Patrick’s Day

Just in time for a double Bank Holiday.

Ireland is celebrating Paddy’s Day a lot differently this year, with parades back in full swing and an extra bank holiday for us to enjoy.

And along with two Bank Holiday days in a row, we’re finally getting a taste of some good weather after weeks of miserable downpours.

Met Éireann is predicting a new “dominant” system to hit our island and along with it will be some warmer spells.

Monday and Tuesday will see both see showers throughout the day, with showers beginning on Monday but clearing up later in the day and the opposite on Tuesday with dry spells in the morning but rain to follow.

Wednesday will be “rather cloudy with rain and drizzle clearing from the east with drier and clearer weather by evening. Highest temperatures of 7 to 9 degrees with light to moderate northwest breezes.”

When it comes to Paddy’s Day, the good news really starts to set in, with it being a “mainly dry day with some sunshine and just isolated showers early in the day. Afternoon temperatures of 12 or 13 degrees with light to moderate southwest breezes falling light southeast late.”

It only gets better from here as Friday’s forecast shows the settled dry spells will continue into the weekend and temperatures will be between 13 and 14 degrees in the afternoon.

“Friday currently looks to bring plenty of dry weather with sunny spells. Cloud will build a little during the day with some drizzle possible in the south. Highs of 9 to 12 degrees. Breezy at times with moderate to fresh southerly winds,” Met Eireann said.

“Current indications show that the weekend will be mainly dry with light winds and sunny spells. Mainly clear and cool at night with possible frost.”
