Motorists have been advised to avoid certain roads, while bus and rail services have been cancelled or delayed due to poor weather.

Commuters throughout the country are facing delays or are having to make alternative travel plans due to the presence of snow and ice on Monday morning.

AA Roadwatch have advised motorists to avoid certain routes throughout the country, including Mountain Pass (R244) between Buncrana and Carndonagh in Donegal, where a number of vehicles have gotten stuck in ice, and Conor Pass in Kerry, which is impassable due to icy conditions.

Poor road conditions have also been reported in Cork, Leitrim, Galway, Kilkenny and Tipperary; more information is available on the AA Roadwatch website.

Bus Éireann, meanwhile, is reporting that a number of services in the northeast of the country and in Cork have been cancelled due to snow. The affected routes and villages can be seen below.

Irish Rail is also reporting delays to the Cork-Heuston and Limerick-Heuston services on Monday morning due to frozen points.

On Sunday evening, Met Éireann issued a status yellow snow-ice warning for Ireland, which remains in effect until 8am on Monday morning.

Met Éireann also issued a status yellow weather advisory warning for the entire country, warning of wet and windy weather, thundery downpours and the risk of snow on Monday evening and the early hours of Tuesday morning.

The warning comes into effect at 5pm on Monday and will remain in place until 6am on Tuesday; parts of north Connacht and west Ulster are most likely to be affected by any snowfall during that period.
