A “dense fog” is set to descend across tonight and Monday.

Met Éireann have issued a Status Yellow Weather warning in anticipation of a “dense fog” set to arrive on Sunday night (26 December).

The warning is in place for Cavan, Galway, Leitrim, Longford, Louth, Mayo, Meath, Monaghan, Offaly, Roscommon, Sligo, and Westmeath.

The Status Yellow warning is valid in 10pm on Sunday until 12pm on Monday (27 December).

Met Éireann are anticipating heavy rain this week from Monday night onwards.

These spells of rain, coupled with saturated soils, may lead to localised flooding.

Meteorologist Aoife Kealy has described the oncoming weather as “unsettled”.

Met Éireann are predicting further rain coming into 2022.
