Weather warning

If you happen to be away on holidays this week, you picked a good time to go.

Monday, Monday, Monday.

It is the most Monday of all Mondays as Met Éireann has issued weather warnings affecting most of the country this week.

A Status Yellow wind and rain warning has been issued for all of the counties in the Republic of Ireland.

The warning comes into effect at 10pm on Tuesday, 8 March and remains in place until 3pm on Wednesday.

Met Éireann warned that heavy rainfall on Tuesday night and Wednesday will be accompanied by very strong and gale force southerly winds.

Some of the showers may be wintry in some places and may lead to hazardous driving conditions and localised flooding.

Earlier on Monday, Met Éireann issued a Status Yellow warning for 10 counties, with near gale force winds and heavy rain on the horizon.

The warning is valid from 4am on Tuesday and will remain in place until 3pm on the same day.

The affected counties in question are Clare, Cork, Kerry, Limerick, Waterford, Donegal, Galway, Leitrim, Mayo and Sligo.
