Fog lights at the ready.

There is a weather warning for the whole of Ireland this morning. The Status Orange warning means there will be widespread, dense fog.

The alert was issued on Sunday night and was put in place at 5am this morning and will remain valid until midday today.

According to Met Éireann, today will start misty with widespread fog and the fog will only gradually thin and lift during the morning. Winds will be light variable but increase moderate southerly along west coasts during the afternoon. Some bright or sunny spells will break through after fog lifts with top temperatures of 16 to 19 degrees.

Monday night will continue to be dry but there will be broken cloud and the mist and fog will return especially in the east of the country.

Southerly winds will gradually increase moderately by morning and will become fresh along west coasts. Lowest temperatures will be around 7 to 12 degrees.
