Weather warning issued for three counties over “heavy and possibly thundery” rain

The warning will be in effect for most of Friday.

Met Éireann has issued a Status Yellow rain warning for three counties. Issued on Thursday morning, the warning will be effect from 1am to 4pm on Friday and applies to Galway, Kerry and Mayo. It says there will be heavy and possibly thundery falls of rain at times on Thursday night and on Friday, which will bring a risk of localised flooding. https://twitter.com/MetEireann/status/1428295351015026688 Looking ahead to the weekend, Met Éireann forecasts that Saturday morning will be dull in the east of the country with further rain, which will clear slowly through the early afternoon. Brighter weather with showers will then follow from the west. The showers will become widespread and heavy through the afternoon and evening and some may be thundery with a risk of spot flooding. Temperatures will range from 17 to 21 degrees. Conditions will start to improve on Sunday as some bright intervals will develop after any mist or fog clears. There will be a good deal of dry weather and some scattered showers. It will be warm too with temperatures between 18 to 21 degrees. From Monday to Wednesday next week, Met Éireann says it looks like high pressure will dominate the weather over Ireland. "It will be warm and largely dry with sunny spells. Highest temperatures of 19 to 22 degrees with mostly light east to southeast breezes," the forecast reads.
