Met Éireann has issued a Status Yellow warning, with snowy and icy conditions anticipated.
The warning, issued on Thursday morning, originally concerned three counties – Donegal, Leitrim and Sligo – but was later upgraded to cover the entire country.
It will be valid from 3am on Friday morning (4 February) until 10am on the same day.
According to the national forecaster, icy stretches are expected, alongside the possibility of snow.
The Road Safety Authority of Ireland has warned motorists to be wary of black ice while travelling.
The UK Met Office has issued a warning of its own, with similar conditions expected across Northern Ireland.
That warning affects Antrim, Armagh, Down, Fermanagh, Tyrone and Derry and is also in place from 3am until 10am on Friday.
On the general national forecast front, things look alright enough for the beginning of February – though it's going to get quite chilly pretty soon as a cold airmass sweeps in on Friday.
Thursday should stay mostly dry outside of some patchy drizzle, mainly across the midlands and southwest, with the best of the sunny spells located across the east of the country.
That said, the afternoon will bring a band of heavy thundery rain to the northwest and west, likely moving down to other areas by Thursday evening.
Highest temperatures of 10 to 12 degrees are forecast, amidst a windy enough day.
Nighttime temperatures may hit as low as -1 degrees, with highs of +3 anticipated.
The weekend, meanwhile, brings a mix of cold bright days characterised by both sunshine and showers.
Generally, conditions should prove mild enough, despite cloudy skies and some outbreaks of rain.
It's still technically winter, right?
