Wetherspoons will soon arrive in the sunny south east.

UK pub chain JD Wetherspoon will soon open their first premises in Waterford City, having been granted conditional approval to do so by Waterford City & County Council.

Plans have been afoot to open a Wetherspoons in the city for some time and, according to Beat 102 103, the Wetherspoons development will rise to three floors with a ‘pavement cafe area’ at ground floor level.

The pub will be located in the heart of Waterford City in Arundel Square, with three adjoining addresses, No. 17-18 Broad Street and No. 7 Arundel Square, set to be renovated as a result.

Wetherspoons were recently granted permission to build a hotel and bar complex on Camden Street in Dublin, but will likely have to wait until at least next year until learning whether they can proceed with plans to open another premises on Lower Abbey Street in the capital.
