Winds of up to 100km/h set to batter Ireland’s west coast this weekend

It’s gonna be windy. Real windy

Conor Heneghan

Met Eireann will soon be running out of weather warnings to send out.

Bad news for those of you with plans outdoors this weekend because, not for the first time, the weather Gods haven’t been looking favourably upon us.

Met Eireann have issued two weather warnings for the weekend ahead, a status orange wind warning for Donegal, Kerry and Mayo and a status yellow wind warning for nine counties in the east and west of the country.

Winds of up to 100km/h per hour are expected to hit exposed coasts and hills in Donegal, Kerry and Mayo, with severe gusts of up to 75km/h expected elsewhere in those areas.

In Wexford, Wicklow, Leitrim, Roscommon, Sligo, Clare, Cork, Kerry and Waterford, meanwhile, winds of up to 85km/h are expected, with both weather warnings valid from 6am this morning until 6am on Sunday morning.

Take care over the weekend, people.
