Did you tune in on Saturday?

On Saturday, Anthony Knowles from Laois appeared on Winning Streak and was lucky enough to make it to the end and spin the Grand Prize Wheel.

In the end, he left with €57,000 in prize money having won €33,000 in cash and a further €24,000 on the Grand Prize Wheel.

Anthony and his family are well known in their area and appeared on another TV show, The Town, two months ago where they articulated their difficulties in getting treatment for their youngest daughter Mary-Claire (2) who suffers from a rare form of epilepsy called Dravet Syndrome.

As a result of the illness, Mary-Claire suffers from regular seizures and the family spoke of how they could be forced to move abroad to seek treatment as the facilities are not available in Ireland.

Following the show, Anthony pledged that the money he won on the night would be used to for medical care for his daughter.

The Knowles family said they have been overwhelmed by the support from the Ballyroan community over the past couple of weeks since Anthony’s name was pulled from the Winning Streak drum and in truth he says the community have been so kind to his family since ‘The Town’ TV programme aired back in September.

In fact last week, the community raised more than €15,000 for Mary-Claire at a livestock and fodder auction in a local bar.
