A woman in her 40s has tragically died following an alleged assault at a residence in Co. Waterford. A Garda investigation is now underway following the fatal assault.
Gardaí were called to a domestic residence in Grange Heights at approximately 6:15 p.m. on Monday, April 27th.
Upon arrival, Gardaí found the woman in a critical condition.

The victim, aged in her 40s, was rushed to University Hospital Waterford. Despite the doctor's best efforts, the woman was pronounced dead a short time after.
Gardaí have confirmed that a man, also aged in his 40s, was arrested at the scene of the assault.
A post-mortem will take place in due course. The scene has been preserved, and the State Pathologist has been notified.
An incident room has also been set up at Waterford Garda Station.
Gardaí are urging witnesses to come forward following this fatal assault.
In a statement, Gardaí urged anyone with information to come forward.
“Anyone who was in the Grange Heights area on Monday, 27th of April 2026, between 6 pm and 6.30 pm who may have camera footage, including CCTV or dashcam, is asked to provide this footage to investigating Gardaí.
“Anyone with information is asked to contact Waterford Garda Station on 051 305300, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda station.
“Investigations are ongoing.”
