Woman in her 60s dies following collision with truck in Tipperary

The driver of the truck, a man aged in his 20s, was treated for shock at the scene by paramedics.

A woman aged in her 60s has died following a fatal road traffic incident that occurred in the townland of Longford Pass in Tipperary.

Gardaí in Thurles are investigating the incident, which occurred on the southbound M8 motorway, south of junction four, at approximately 11.30am on Tuesday morning.

The woman in her late 60s, the sole occupant of her car, died after crashing into a truck.

Her body has been removed from the scene to the mortuary in South Tipperary General Hospital, where a post-mortem will take place.

The driver of the truck, a man aged in his 20s, was treated for shock at the scene by paramedics.

Local diversions are in place as the road remains closed in both directions as Garda Forensic Collision Investigators examine the scene.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this collision to come forward.

Any road users who were travelling on the M8 southbound, south of junction four, and who may have camera footage, including dashcam, are being asked to make it available to Gardaí.
