Woman dies Dublin road crash

The incident took place on Friday morning.

A woman has died following a fatal road traffic collision in Dublin.

The collision occurred at approximately 10am on Friday (18 February) at the junction of George’s Street Lower and Convent Lane in Dún Laoghaire.

During the incident, a female pedestrian, aged in her early 70s, was fatally injured following a collision with a truck.

The woman was later removed from the scene and brought to St. Columcille’s Hospital in Loughlinstown where a post-mortem examination will take place in due course.

The driver of the truck – a man aged in his late 30s – and his passenger – also a man aged in his late 30s – were treated at the scene for injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening.

At the time of writing on Friday afternoon, the road has been closed so that Forensic Collision Investigators may conduct an examination of the scene.

Local diversions have been put in place.

Gardaí have issued an appeal for any witnesses to the incident to come forward.

Any road users who were travelling in the area at this time and who may have camera footage – including dash-cam – are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.
