Woman dies from her injuries following road collision in Kildare

Very sad news from Kildare.

A woman in her late 50s has died from her injuries after an incident in which she was struck by a car on Wednesday (20 May). The collision occurred at approximately 4.30pm on the R418 at Nicholastown near Athy in Kildare.

Gardaí have now confirmed that the woman, who had sustained serious injuries and was airlifted from the scene to Beaumont Hospital in Dublin, died yesterday evening (23 May).

The driver of the car, a man in his 70s and the sole occupant of the vehicle, was also given medical treatment.

An investigation into the incident is ongoing.

A full examination of the crash site and car was carried out by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators and Public Service Vehicle officers. The coroner has been notified and a post-mortem examination will be arranged. A Garda family liaison officer has been appointed in the case.
