Woman dies after being struck by car in Cork

Very sad news.

A woman in her 70s died after she was struck by a car at around 7pm on Friday evening (21 February). According to a spokesperson for An Garda Síochána, the incident occurred on the R580, Kanturk to Buttevant Road in Cork. Emergency services attended the scene and pronounced the woman dead. The body of the woman has been taken to the mortuary at Cork University Hospital where a post-mortem will be carried out. Local diversions are in place and the scene has been prepared for a technical examination. Gardaí in Mallow are now appealing for anyone with information, particularly any road users who may have dash cam footage of the area from the time of the collision, to contact them on 022 31450 or the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111.
