A man has been arrested.
A woman has died following a fatal assault that took place at a domestic dwelling in Wicklow on Christmas Eve.
The assault occurred at a residence in Park Na Sillogue Court in Enniskerry at approximately 4pm.
The woman, who was aged in her 40s, was pronounced dead at the scene.
At the time of writing, the scene has been preserved by Gardaí in order for a technical examination to be conducted.
The office of the State Pathologist has been notified and a post-mortem examination will be carried out at a later date.
A man aged in his 40s has been arrested.
He has been taken to Bray Garda Station where he has been detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.
An Garda Síochána are investigating all circumstances surrounding the assault.
Gardaí are appealing for anyone with information in relation to this incident to come forward.
They are particularly appealing to anyone who was in the Park Na Sillogue area of Bray on Christmas Eve between 3pm and 4pm to come forward.
