Woman left in critical condition after being hit by truck in Louth

The woman has been moved to Beaumont Hospital.

Gardaí in Drogheda have confirmed that they are investigating all the circumstances around an incident that has left a woman in critical condition.

A spokesperson for An Garda Síochána confirmed that a 24-year-old woman was struck by a truck as she crossed the road at around 3pm on Monday (18 November).

At the time, she was removed to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda but she has since been transferred to Beaumont Hospital, where her condition is described as critical.

Gardaí also confirmed that the driver of the truck was uninjured.

As part of the investigation, Gardaí are appealing to any motorists who may have been travelling on the the R132, also known as the old Drogheda to Dunleer Road, at the time.

They are also encouraging any motorists who may have dash-cam footage of the incident or any witnesses to the collision to contact them at Drogheda Garda station on 041 – 9874200, The Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda station.
