Wrap up warm folks, temperatures are set to drop to -3 this week

Rory Cashin

Snow forecast

“Sharp and severe frost” is expected in most of the country.

January was A MONTH, wasn’t it?

It feels like January, by itself, was about 15 months long.

Well, that is over and we’re into February now, which means Valentine’s Day AND Pancake Tuesday AND… yep, this is usually when we get some of the coldest weather of the year.

Met Éireann‘s forecast for the week isn’t the worst ever, especially towards the end of the week, but it does start off pretty cold.

Monday night will see temperatures drop to about 1 degree, but then Tuesday night will see them go as low as -3 in places, with sharp and severe frost anticipated across most of the country.

Wednesday will be slightly better, getting as warm as 10 degrees during the day, but dropping back down to freezing that night.

Things are expected to stay pretty much like that until the weekend, but while it is still several days out, next weekend is set to bring “unsettled weather with spells of wet and windy weather and possibly very windy conditions on Sunday”.

Wrap up warm and dry, folks.
