Wrap up warm, Ireland is going to get snow this weekend

A cold weekend ahead.

Met Éireann has said that Ireland will experience some cold weather this weekend that will lead to some rain, hail, sleet and snow in places.

Friday will start out dry in many areas but rain from the west will spread eastwards in the morning.

The afternoon will be clear but with scattered showers and temperatures will be between 8 and 12 degrees.

Overnight there will be showers with some of them being wintry.

Showers will spread across the country on Saturday and over Ulster, some of them will be wintry with highest temperatures of 5 degrees.

Saturday night will be increasingly cold with showers turning from rain and sleet to snow especially on higher ground and in Ulster

As we head into Sunday it will be a very cold day with sunny spells and wintry showers of rain hail, sleet and snow.

Highest temperatures will be from 4 to 7 degrees with fresh, gusty westerly winds, strong in coastal areas.

On Sunday night, showers will become more isolated with lowest temperatures of 0 to 2 degrees with frost and icy patches in places.
