Gardaí said enquires into the incident are ongoing.
A young girl suffered serious injuries after she was attacked by a dog in Donegal.
The incident is said to have occurred in Buncrana around 11.30am on Friday, 30 July while the girl was playing in her garden.
The girl was taken to Letterkenny University Hospital and while her injuries are serious, they are not believed to be life-threatening.
The dog has since been handed over to the local dog warden and is understood to have been put down.
