A young man has died after he got into difficulty while surfing in Clare on Monday morning.
The incident occurred at Lough Donnell Beach around 8am.
It’s understood the man was surfing at Lough Donnell Beach around 8am when he got into difficulty and was airlifted to hospital.
Gardaí confirmed on Monday evening that the man in his 20s had passed away at University Hospital Limerick.
“Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene and the male (20s) was airlifted to University Hospital Limerick in serious condition,” a Garda statement said.
“The male was later pronounced deceased at University Hospital Limerick.”
The man is understood to be from Ennis and worked locally as a lifeguard.
